Wi$h Li$t
[Verse 1]They want that yacht life,Under chopper blades. They want those bright lights,And balenci shades. And a fat ass, with a baby face. They want it all. They want that complex female character. They want that critical smash, palme d’or.And an oscar, on their bathroom floor. They want it all.
[Pre-Chorus]And they should have what they want. They deserve what they want.Hope they get what they want.
[Chorus]I just want you, huh.Have a couple kids,Got the whole block looking like you.We tell the world to leave us the fuck alone, and they do, wow.Got me dreaming about a driveway with a basketball hoop.Boss up, settle down, got a wish list (wish list).I just want you.
[Verse 2]They want that freedom, living off the grid. They want those three dogs that they call their kids. And that good surf, no hypocrites. They want it all. They want a contract with real madrid. They want that spring break that was fuckin’ lit.And then that video, taken off the internet. They want it all.
[Pre-Chorus]And they should have what they want. They deserve what they want.I hope they get what they want.
[Chorus]I just want you, huh (you, you, yeah).Have a couple kids, got the whole block looking like you.We tell the world to leave us the fuck alone, and they do (oh), wow.Got me dreaming about a driveway with a basketball hoop (hoop).Boss up, settle down, got a wish list (wish list).
[Verse 3]I made wishes on all of the stars. Please, god, bring me a nice friend who i think is hot.I thought i had it right, once, twice, but i did not.You caught me off my guard.I hope get what i want (get what i want),‘Cause i know what i want.
[Chorus]I just want you (baby).Have a couple kids, got the whole block looking like you(Got ’em looking like you).We tell the world to leave us the fuck alone, and they do, wow.Got me dreaming about a driveway with a basketball hoop.Boss up, settle down, got a wish list (wish list).I just want you (ooh). And we can have a couple kids,Got the whole block looking like you (you). We tell the world to leave us the fuck alone,And they do (yeah), wow.And now you got me dreaming about a driveway with a basketball hoop.Boss up, settle down, got a wish list (wish list).I just want you.
“Wi$h li$t,” the eighth track on taylor swift’s 12th studio album the life of a showgirl, released october 3, 2025, stands out as a playful yet poignant commentary on modern desires. stylized with a dollar sign, the title hints at themes of ambition, materialism, and the seductive nature of fame. in keeping with the album’s theatrical and glamorous tone, the track is expected to be energetic and bold—blending catchy pop elements with deeper reflections on the fantasy and pressure of life in the spotlight. with long-time collaborators max martin and shellback on board, the production likely matches the vibrancy and confidence that define the album’s aesthetic.
Lyrically, “wi$h li$t” contrasts society’s obsession with grandeur—luxury, fame, freedom, and success—with the narrator’s personal longing for something more grounded and genuine. the verses namecheck a variety of extravagant goals fueled by modern culture, from social media perfection to artistic acclaim. the repeated line “they want it all” critiques the endless pursuit of more, echoing a collective belief that happiness is tied to status and accumulation. these verses paint a vivid picture of a world chasing dreams that are shiny on the surface but often hollow underneath.
However, the chorus brings a surprising and heartfelt shift. instead of wanting everything, the narrator simply wants one person—love, intimacy, and a quiet, domestic life. evocative lines like “a driveway with a basketball hoop” and “the whole block looking like you” reveal dreams of family and emotional stability rather than fame. in this way, the song becomes a love letter that redefines success—not as external validation, but as deep, personal connection. it’s a touching reminder that amid the noise of public life, the most valuable wish might just be a private one.
